SC Theatre Department to Present
Jukebox Musical ‘Head Over Heels’
Winfield, Kan., March 22, 2022 — The Southwestern College theatre
department will present the jukebox musical “Head Over Heels,” featuring the
songs from The Go-Go’s, on Friday and Saturday, April 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m.,
and on Sunday, April 3, at 2 p.m., in the Richardson Performing Arts Center.
The show is being co-directed by Allyson Moon and Joshua Robinson.
The musical is based on Philip Sidney’s “The Countess of Pembroke’s
Arcadia.” “Head Over Heels” is the story of what happens when the royal court
of Arcadia is threatened by the mystical Oracle of Delphi with the loss of its
“Beat,” the divine power that ensures the kingdom’s prosperity. King Basilius,
whose own title is at stake, forces the members of the royal family and court
on a journey to the woods in an attempt to escape the Oracle’s seemingly
unavoidable prophecies. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely
lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, “Head Over Heels” preaches unconditional
love and acceptance of yourself and everyone you know, no matter their gender
or sexual identity, and uses some of the greatest pop rock hits of the late
20th century.
The cast includes: Cameron Carter as Basilius, Markie Swanson as Gynecia,
Maya Damron as Philoclea, Jacob Giger as Dametas, Jamieson Campo as Mopsa,
Emily Robinson as Pamela, Carter Humphreys as Musidorus, D’Marcus Chase as
Pythio, and Jordan Burford, Katie Miller, John Moberly, Lizzy Santana, and Sean
Whitney as Ensemble.
Admission charge is $12 for adults, $6 for students, $10 for seniors
(65+), and SC students and employees are free. For tickets or other
