Thursday’s Data Walk is final event for
2023
Cowley County, KS, November 27, 2023: Legacy Regional Community
Foundation will host the final 2023 Data Walk on Thursday, November 30
beginning at 6:00 p.m. at First United Methodist
Church, 1000 Millington, Winfield. This event is a community
conversation where we “dig into data” as we continue our series of "A Closer Look at Cowley Kids"
Data Walks. This event is made possible by local, state
and national collaborative partners. If you plan to attend, RSVP to 620-221-7224 by November 29.
There is often a divide between what we think we know and the
reality of what is really happening. The data brings us to a common place from
which we can diagnosis the situation and move forward in a skillful manner.
Attendees will move in discussion groups through stations of
information examining the facts around poverty in our community. The data
zeroes in on kids and how poverty impacts health, education and their potential
for a successful future. Seven indicators with Cowley County specific data
vetted by the Kansas Health Institute will be on display. Additionally, a short
documentary filmed with local experts discussing social determinants of health
will be shown.
Legacy Foundation stands in the gap for many issues in our
community - acting as a catalyst and thought leader, convening people for
action and providing necessary resources. In 2024 Legacy plans to
kick-off Cowley Acts an initiative to further the work.
