Winfield
Public Library Names New Director
The Winfield Public Library Board of
Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Tabitha Hogan as the new
director of the Winfield Public Library. Hogan, who holds a Masters of Library
Science from Emporia State University, is a long-time Winfield resident with an
extensive background in libraries and technology. Hogan has served as USD 465’s
School Library Media and Instructional Technology Specialist since 2013 and,
prior to that, was the district’s Secondary Business, Multimedia, and Computer
Science teacher. “I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to continue to
serve my former students, their families, and the entire Winfield community
through this position”, says Hogan.
“We are delighted to appoint Tabitha
as director,” states WPL Board President Julie Wilke. “Her experience in the
library field, involvement in the community, and knowledge of the discipline
will build on the library’s past success and deliver an exciting future.”
“I’ve been a patron of the Winfield
Public Library since childhood. Growing up in rural Kansas, travels to Winfield
for supplies often included a library visit for books or other
activities. I learned early to value the role of libraries to make
connections and to inspire,” says Hogan. “As an adult and then as a
parent, this library has provided services and programs that have given my
family exciting opportunities to connect with the community and the world of
ideas. I am honored to now work with the dedicated and innovative library
staff, library board, and Friends of the Library volunteers to further the
mission of the Winfield Public Library.”
Starting in August, Hogan will be
replacing Patty Wagner as Director who is moving from the area to be closer to
family. “I will miss Winfield,” states Wagner. “However, I’ve had the pleasure
of working with Tabitha on several projects and am truly excited for the community.”
Hogan and Wagner will be working together through August to ensure a seamless
transition.
