Exhibit Opening Friday Night at Winfield
Public Library
The Winfield Public Library is proud to host the
traveling exhibit Climate
& Energy Central from the Kauffman Museum at Bethel College until May
22, 2022. To kick off the exhibition, all are invited to a cookie and coffee reception on Friday, April 1 from 4:30pm to 6pm. While the
exhibit is currently available to all patrons, Friday marks the unveiling of
enhancements that include a DIY solar oven with instructions on how anyone can
create and use their own. Each of the 5 exhibit enhancements stems from a book
in the library’s collection.
This traveling exhibition from the Kauffman Museum
at Bethel College features Kansas scientists who are working together to
address the grand challenges of renewable energy and potential climate change.
Originally developed for installation at the opening of the Flint Hills
Discovery Center in Manhattan, KS, in 2012 the exhibit is now available to tour
across Kansas. Featuring large scale graphics, photo murals, and a real section
of a center pivot irrigation system, the modular displays create an immersive
environment that brings to life scientists and the work they are doing.
This exhibit is made possible by a grant through
the National Endowment for the Humanities. American Rescue Plan: Humanities
Grants for Libraries is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA)
made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities
(NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
