“A Blade So Black” is the March pick for WPL’s
Bookn’ with Friends Book Club
The Winfield Public Library invites community
members to join their Bookn’ with Friends group for a book talk on Monday,
March 21st at 6:30pm. This
month’s selected book is A Blade So Black by L.L.
McKinney. Copies are available for check
out at the WPL front desk. Participants
can register by calling 620-221-4470 or through the online events calendar at
wpl.org.
A Blade So Black has a 3.7
out of 5 rating on goodreads and is 384 pages. Selected by WPL’s Friends group to meet WPL’s March Reading Challenge of
“A Spin-off or Retelling of a Classic,” it may contain some familiar
elements. This is sure to be an exciting
read and an entertaining discussion! From the publisher:
The first time
the Nightmare came, it nearly cost Alice her life. Now she’s trained to battle monstrous
creatures in the dark dream realm known as Wonderland with magic weapons and
hardcore fighting skills. Yet even
warriors have a curfew.
Life in
real-world Atlanta isn’t always so simple, as Alice juggles an overprotective
mom, a high-maintenance best friend, and a slipping GPA. Keeping the Nightmares at bay is turning into
a full-time job. But when Alice’s
handsome and mysterious mentor is poisoned, she has to find the antidote by
venturing deeper into Wonderland than she’s ever gone before. And she’ll need to use everything she’s
learned in both worlds to keep from losing her head…literally.
WPL’s 2022 Reading Challenge encourages
everyone, no matter what age, to read along with us. Each month we will feature a theme and
encourage you to select a book that fits. Participate as much as you want – you are welcome to take on one, two, or
all 12 challenges. 2022 Reading

retelling of a classic; April – a book about weather or climate; May – a Sci-Fi
