Showcase
Something You Love with WPL’s “The Traveling Sketchbook”
Peanut butter, rainbows, a special pet, a time of day – what
sparks love in your life? That’s the
newest question posed by Winfield Public Library’s The Traveling Sketchbook. Local artists, cartoonists, collage novices,
mixed media specialists, dabblers and doodlers are invited to participate by
creating artwork that spotlights something you love. Updated kits include the new prompt and tools
such as watercolor pencils, a brush, pens and paper, and are available to
checkout for one week.
The Traveling Sketchbook is a community art project that invites
artists of all abilities to explore their creativity. The art created can be silly, serious,
somewhere in between, signed or left anonymous. All sketches/inclusions must be G-rated so that all members of the
community, regardless of age, can enjoy them. Throughout the library, a selection of Traveling Sketchbook artwork is on display.
WPL’s
The Traveling Sketchbook is made
possible by a Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural
Libraries grant, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in
collaboration with the Association for Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL).
