Create
a Tiny Gallery of Gratitude with WPL’s “The Traveling Sketchbook”
A new prompt for Winfield Public Library’s The Traveling Sketchbook has been
released, just in time for the holiday season. Local artists, cartoonists, collage novices, mixed media specialists and
doodlers are invited to participate by creating a tiny gallery of gratitude. Sketchbook
kits have been updated to reflect a new theme, “Gratitude Showcase,” which
invites local artists, cartoonists, collage enthusiasts, mixed media
specialists and doodlers to select four of the included gratitude prompts to
create a personal display of gratitude.
Also
new in November, artwork from The
Traveling Sketchbook is on display throughout the library. The displayed work is a selection of artworks
created and submitted through the Traveling
Sketchbook over the past six months.
The Traveling Sketchbook is a community art project that invites
artists of all abilities to explore their creativity. Sketchbook kits can be checked out for one
week, and include tools such as watercolor pencils, a brush, pens and paper. The art created can be silly, serious,
somewhere in between, signed or left anonymous. All sketches/inclusions must be G-rated so that all members of the
community, regardless of age, can enjoy them.
WPL’s
The Traveling Sketchbook is made
possible by a Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural
Libraries grant, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in
collaboration with the Association for Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL).
