UPDATE: Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOIR)
In light of a recent federal court order, reporting companies are not currently required to file beneficial ownership information with FinCEN and are not subject to liability if they fail to do so while the order remains in force. However, reporting companies may continue to voluntarily submit beneficial ownership information reports. We recommend that small business file or commit to staying informed about any future developments regarding this regulation at .
REMINDER: Biennial Information Reports (Formerly Annual Reports)
Beginning last year, Kansas businesses are required to file information reports with the Kansas Secretary of State every two years instead of an annual report every year. The transition from annual filling to biennial is meant reduce paperwork for Kansas business owners. Neither the content of the report nor the month and day the report is due changed, only the year.
Businesses will file based on the year their formation documents were first filed with the Kansas Secretary of State. If your business was formed in an odd year, you will owe a report in 2025. Businesses formed in an even year should have reported in 2024 and will not owe a report until 2026. For more information or to find your business formation and filing date, please visit .
