Job Summary:

The Academic Coordinator is responsible for providing academic, career, social/personal, financial, post-secondary school information/counseling, and advisement to individuals and groups of student in the program.  Plan and prepare Saturday academy events and summer camps.

Position Duties:

=      Provide academic, career, social/personal, financial, post-secondary school information/counseling advisement to individuals and groups of students in the program.

=      Plan and prepare Saturday academy events and summer camps.

=      Establish/coordinate delivery of core curriculum for weekend and summer components.

=      Coordinate on-campus and target school visit schedules.

=      Teach career exploration workshops; coordinate job shadowing and technology excursions with target area school-to-career staff.

=      Provide periodic workshops for project participants on topics such as stress management, test taking, study skills, self-development, etc.

=      Provide periodic workshops for parents or participants.

=      Provide assessment, academic planning and advising, and monitoring.

=      Consult with Upward Bound staff and the target school counselors and faculty on behalf of project participants.

=      Encourage student participation in cultural enrichment and other enrichment activities.

=      Coordinate Upward Bound orientation for project participants.

=      Implement tutor orientation and training. Supervise tutors.

=      Interface with college instructors for students in the Bridge program.

=      Provide progress and data reports.

=      Assist with project evaluation.

=      Coordinate the recruitment of students into the program.

=      Prepare and distribute correspondence to students of program activities.

=      Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization.

=      Comply with all College policies and procedures

=      Assist the Director of Upward Bound Program by performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

=      Ability to teach workshops.

=      Sensitivity and understanding of the needs of students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

=      Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.

=      Ability to work and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

=      Strong communications skills, both written and oral.

=      Ability to organize and prioritize work. Work well under deadline pressures.

=      Excellent human relations skills. Ability to work with individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds and populations.

=      Understanding of and commitment to AQIP.

 

 

Required Education Background:

=      Bachelor’s Degree.  Master’s degree, preferred.

=      Coursework in counseling, sociology or similar fields, preferred.

Required Experience:


=      Valid driver’s license, required.

=      Experience working in an environment serving low-income and academically disadvantaged populations.

=      Experience counseling and/or teaching in grades 9-12, preferred.

=      Experience in the delivery of services in an educational setting, preferred.

=      Career development, financial aid and academic advising experience, preferred.

Supervisory Requirements: none.

 

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to move freely around the campus, outreach centers and area schools; ability to lift up to 20 pounds; ability to bend, stoop, reach and grasp as required to perform responsibilities; ability to drive motor vehicle; and ability to work on the computer for long periods of time. 

Work Environment:

Work performed in an office environment, classroom, inside and outside at multiple community locations.

Tiger Deli Manager

Job Summary:

The Tiger Deli Manager manages all areas of operation for Cowley College’s Tiger Deli.

Position Duties:

=      Manage daily activities of the Tiger Deli to improve sales performance.

=      Responsible for managing the Deli operational processes to assure compliance with all College, local, state and federal standards.

=      Manage product storage, maintenance and rotation activities to avoid any damages or spoilages.

=      Prepare and/or supervise food preparation, maintaining all safety standards.

=      Operate all food preparation machines and equipment.

=      Receive, unload and stock food items.

=      Research, understand and implement all health guidelines as required by local, state and federal food regulations.

=      Conduct regular inspections for appearance, operation and safety of the equipment and report any issues or concerns.

=      Ensure the facility is maintained neat, clean and safe.

=      Ensure that products are properly labeled and priced.

=      Monitor and maintain stock inventory levels to avoid over and under stock problems.

=      Respond to and resolve all queries and complaints from both customers and work study employees.

=      Interact politely with customers while solving problems related to sales, dissatisfied service and issues related to deli operations.

=      Maintain equipment.  Coordinating with maintenance any in-house upkeep.

=      Interview, hire, train, supervise and mentor all work study employees.

=      Schedule and assign work study to have full daily coverage.

=      Supervise study work study employees in all duties, including; food preparation, cooking, serving, packaging and operating counter.

=      Ensure work study employees understand and follow all College and Tiger Deli rules and policies.

=      Manage work study budget to stay within department budget.

=      Promote the Tiger Deli to students and staff.

Requirements:  

Required Education Background:

=      High school diploma or equivalent.

   Two years of experience in food service.

=      Accurate recordkeeping skills.

=      Understanding of computer and basic software programs.

=      Ability to supervise and positively motivate student work study employees.
