National Apprenticeship Week
Arkansas City, KS
11/16/2022 11:35 AM

November 14th-20th is National Apprenticeship Week!

So what is a Registered Apprenticeship?

It is an industry-driven, high-quality career pathway where employers can develop and prepare their future workforce, and individuals can obtain paid work experience, receive progressive wage increases, classroom instruction, and a portable, nationally-recognized credential. Registered Apprenticeships are industry-vetted and approved and validated by the Kansas Apprenticeship Council and then by the Kansas Department of Commerce's Registered Apprenticeship office.

Cowley College Workforce & Community Education department works very closely with this office to create and sponsor registered apprenticeship opportunities for any business, large or small, looking for better ways to recruit and retain qualified employees. We can work with your business to design your own apprenticeship standards and complete the necessary paperwork to register with the State office.

Cowley College offers a wide variety of business and trades technical programs that would serve as the Related Technical Instruction (RTI) required for completing a registered apprenticeship.

Employers in the Information Technology and/or Advanced Manufacturing fields could also take advantage of grant funding available through Workforce Alliance of South Central KS to setup scholarships to pay for that RTI.
