TED Talk Lunch Series at WPL
What is the “dark playground,” and why do we
spend so much time there when we should be doing other things instead? Find out at Winfield Public Library’s June
TED Talk Lunch Series. WPL will feature
“Inside the mind of a master procrastinator” on Thursday, June 9 at 12:00pm as
part of their monthly TED Talk Lunch series. Community members are encouraged to bring a sack lunch to this free
event. Coffee and dessert will be
provided. Registration is now open
through the events calendar at wpl.org or by calling 620-221-4470.
“I think procrastination is something that
most – if not all – of us can relate to,” says Ruth Bumgarner, WPL Adult
Services Librarian. “This talk by Tim
Urban is both funny and thoughtful.”
WPL’s Ted Talk Lunch series will continue
through the summer on the second Thursday of each month at noon, featuring TED
Talks on a variety of topics. During
June and July the talks are part of the Adult Summer Reading Program. Adults can collect tickets for weekly prize
drawings, sponsored by the WPL Friends of the Library, by attending events
(such as the TED Talk Lunch Series), checking out books, submitting book
reviews, snagging grab & go kits, visiting the book bike, and completing
weekly trivia sheets. Details and summer
reading starter packs are available at the library beginning Monday, June 6.
