RCB Bank Raises $6,000 for Kid’s Sake Campaign
WINFIELD, Kan.
– Since 2008, RCB Bank and
team leader Michelle Vaught have been one of the top fundraising teams for the
Kansas Big Brothers Big Sisters annual for Kid’s Sake Campaign. This year they
continued that tradition, raising over $6,000 for the annual event.
“I help because my mom taught me to put myself in
someone else’s shoes,” says Vaught. “All kids deserve to feel special and
important because they are and I think this program helps them do that.”
Due to COVID restrictions
this year, the RCB Bank team moved their silent auction to Facebook and
exceeded last year’s total by almost $2,000. Other events helped raise money,
including employee blue jeans day for donations and an additional $500 donation
from RCB Bank.
Kansas Big Brothers Big
Sisters in Cowley County is grateful for their partnership with RCB Bank. With
their donations, they will support six matches for youth in the community this
year. Outcomes are measured in academics, social and emotional well-being and
avoiding risky behaviors.
“Many of the kids in the program and on the waiting
list may not have someone stable in their life, maybe their home-life does not
allow extra time for them, maybe they just struggle in school or emotionally,
or maybe they could just benefit from an outside connection. This program tries
to match them with someone with similar interests that will spend one-on-one
time with them, which could be during school or outside of school,” Vaught
added.
Currently, 40 kids are waiting for mentors who can be
served by couples, families or individuals. Although the fundraising
competition ended March 31, the campaign will continue to recruit mentors and
support these relationships.
