Leadership
Cowley County hosts workshop
Cowley County, KS: Leadership is a muscle that needs to be
exercised. To grow and change as leaders means continuing to challenge
ourselves with new ideas and greater understanding of ourselves and those we
encounter.
The Leadership Cowley County Board of Directors invites you to
join us in a workshop of self discovery.
Dr. Ross Peterson-Veatch will lead the workshop using the “Immunity to Change”
method. The workshop is planned for Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 8:30
a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Wroten Hall on the Southwestern College campus,
Winfield. A nominal $10.00 registration fee covers the workshop, materials
and a continental breakfast.
“We are excited
to offer this in-person workshop to help area community members continue on
their leadership path,” stated Leadership Cowley County Chair Cody
O’Brien. “The Immunity to Change method was developed by Harvard
University Professors Dr. Robert Kegan and Dr. Lisa Lahey to help individuals
overcome the obstacles their beliefs – along with the collective mind-sets in
our organizations – combine to create as barriers to real change. We are
fortunate Dr. Peterson-Veatch is trained in this method and willing to lead the
training.”
Ross Peterson-Veatch is Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of
the College, and Professor of Folklore at Southwestern College in Winfield,
Kansas. In 2021 Dr. Peterson-Veatch was selected by the American Conference of
Academic Deans (ACAD) as the winner of their annual Excellence in Academic
Leadership Award. Before coming to Southwestern in 2017, he served in various
administrative roles at Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana. Dr. Peterson-Veatch
began his administrative career in 2001 at Indiana University Bloomington’s
(IUB) Kelley School of Business as Instructional Consultant focused on
improvement of classroom teaching practice. He was also a faculty member at IUB
in the Liberal Arts and Management Program, and has held faculty appointments
at Earlham College, Goucher College, and Indiana University-Purdue University
Indianapolis (IUPUI).
