Healthcare Community Celebration Event
Scheduled for Friday Night
Winfield, Kan., April 20, 2022 — “Spring into Action for Healthcare
Community Celebration,” a community event organized by Southwestern College
senior Maria Collins, will be on Friday, April 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at
Island Park in Winfield. There is no admission charge and the public is
encouraged to attend.
The event will feature live music by Loose Ends, the Nieves and Taters N’
Toppings food trucks, and free cupcakes for the first 100 local healthcare
workers.
Collins felt a need to celebrate the healthcare community.
“I chose to do this project after researching moral distress and burnout
syndrome and the resources available for healthcare professionals handling
these dilemmas,” Collins says. “I wanted to impact our local healthcare
community so I organized an appreciation week for local healthcare workers and
am organizing several stress relief activities at the hospital.”
This event is being made possible by William Newton Hospital Foundation,
Leadership Southwestern, Cowley County Health Department, Family Care Center
and Urgent Care of Cowley County, and the Winfield High School Health Science
Career Class (HOSA).
“Please come out and enjoy a nice evening to celebrate healthcare workers
in Cowley County,” Collins says.
