Hello! I am Cierra Harrison and I am one out of the three of
the leaders for Freshman Work Day which is on August 7th of 2022. First, here is some background
behind Freshman Work Day and where the service project originated.
Freshman Work Day is one of the final days of Southwestern
College Orientation for the incoming 2022-23 freshman class. All freshman head
out into the Winfield community to work on homes and non-profit buildings that
need repair, painting, cleaning, or yard work. This event creates a positive
change and outcome of an individual and local level. Freshman Work Day was
started by the Leadership program in 1992 with the goal of establishing
positive relationships between Southwestern College and the community in
Winfield.
Caitlin Estrin, Coye Campbell, and I are searching for any
volunteers to become a site leader for a site of the day for Freshman Work Day.
As a team, we are looking for any volunteers whether you are a teacher, coach,
or a student. If you would love to volunteer and become closer to the Winfield
community please contact one of us through the emails above.
If you or someone you know that lives or has an
organization/company in the Winfield community that has a job for the freshman
and volunteers, please fill out the form with the link below by July 9th of 2022 or contact
us for more information or any questions. This includes repairs, painting,
cleaning, and/or yard work that would take at least a couple of hours. Our goal
as a leadership team is to have at least 18 sites for the incoming freshman and
volunteers.

We hope that you highly encourage the incoming students to
partake in Freshman Work Day and for any current upperclassmen students to
