Collaborates to Ensure Access to Specialty Care
William Newton Hospital is pleased to announce the expansion
and continuation of specialty care services through collaborations with area
medical providers. These partnerships aim to enhance access to specialized care
for Cowley County and surrounding communities.

Operating Officer Brandy Cuevas, MHA, RN.
Interventional Cardiology
Starting in November, Ryan Beard, MD, of William Newton
Cardiology in Winfield will offer a half-day clinic on Monday mornings at SCK
Health Specialty Clinic in Arkansas City. Dr. Beard, who offers full-time
interventional cardiology services through a partnership with Heartland
Cardiology in Wichita, has been an active medical staff member at William
Newton Hospital since 2021.
Dr. Beard currently serves in the role of medical director
of the cardiac catheterization lab in the H. L. Snyder Medical Foundation
Surgery Center and medical director of HeartMenders cardiac rehabilitation.
William Newton Cardiology also provides a monthly outreach clinic at Wilson
Medical Center in Neodesha.
Orthopedic Trauma Care and Surgery
Suhail Ansari, MD, of SCK Health Specialty Clinic is now
providing on-call trauma care as a consulting medical staff member at William
Newton Hospital for patients with broken bones and related tissue injuries.
Dr. Ansari now also offers patients the option to have
minimally invasive orthopedic procedures in the H. L. Snyder Medical Foundation
Surgery Center in Winfield including shoulder arthroscopy, knee arthroscopy,
complex fracture repairs, carpal tunnel release, cyst removal, total knee
replacement, total shoulder replacement, total hip replacement, ACL repairs,
and kyphoplasty.
Ear, Nose, and Throat
Kyle Smothers, MD, of Mid-Kansas ENT, joined the consulting
medical staff in June at William Newton Hospital, providing ENT procedures in
the H. L. Snyder Medical Foundation Surgery Center. Dr. Smothers took over the
practice previously held by Matthew Stumpe, MD.
“We want to express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Stumpe for
his dedicated service to our patients for many years. We wish him all the best
in his future endeavors,” said Cuevas.
Born in Fort Worth, Texas, and raised in Clearwater, Kansas,
Dr. Smothers joined Mid-Kansas ENT in July 2023 as a practicing
otolaryngologist.
