The Hair Lounge Gives Away Almost 70 Free Haircuts to
Students for First-Ever “Cut-A-Thon”
(Winfield, KS) - The Hair Lounge at 801 Manning St. hosted
their first “Back to School Cut-a-Thon” on Saturday, August 17th
from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM where they gave free haircuts to students Pre-K all
the way up to grade 12.
Stylists Heidi Reed, Gabby Rose, and Elizabeth Amezcua
donated their time and skills to give back-to-back free haircuts for the event.
Massage therapist Christina Chairs also gave free chair massages to parents
waiting for their students to get their hair cut. The group was met with a line
around the block when they arrived at the salon. Gold Nutrition donated drinks
to the stylists to keep their energy up during the cut-a-thon.
Heidi Reed, owner of the The Hair Lounge, said “I started
the event to say thank you for voting best salon, but also, I love to give back
to my community. I wanted to help out parents because I see the financial
strain that getting children ready to go back to school has on them. I have a
talent so why not use it to help others.”
During the event, donations were also accepted to put
towards past due school lunch fees balances. The salon has raised $700 to help
alleviate the expense of school lunches, with donations still rolling in. The
group will present the money to the USD 465 BOE at their next meeting on August
26th.
Folks that are interested in donating to the cause before then
can drop the money off at the salon or call 620-222-6199 to make arrangements.
