Micro-Grant opportunity announced

Cowley County, KS, November 27, 2023: Legacy Regional Community Foundation is awarding micro-grants (up to $750 each) to area organizations and charitable projects through their new online grant application.  Grant applications are accepted on an open basis. Twenty micro-grants are available.  The link to the application can be found on the Foundation website at www.legacyregionalfoundation.orgThe Grants Committee meets monthly to review all completed applications and generally responds within six to eight weeks. The first review date for the micro-grants is November 30, 2023.

“We are excited to offer this opportunity for micro-grants to our community partners,” stated Legacy’s CEO Yazmin Wood, “Because our goal is to put grant funds to work in the community, we hope applicants will find the new online grant application convenient and easy to use.”

In addition to the tremendous energy Legacy has been pouring into the community through the Data Walk, as well as leadership roles with RISE Cowley, Leadership Cowley County and other projects, the Board of Directors has been intentional in growing Foundation capacity.  One significant way this growth is occurring is through conversion to a new software system.  The new software not only has the necessary robust fund accounting capabilities, but also provides technology to better interact with donors, fund holders and applicants for both grants and scholarships.  Among other advances, this technology will allow Legacy to expand its payroll deduction program to more businesses and industries.

“In our community we are dedicated to supporting what is local – we hope you not only buy local, but that you give local, too,” Wood shared, “When we pool resources together in our community then we can make a greater impact.   At Legacy we appreciate the donations that come to us from local individuals who want to invest in the future of this area. Donors can give to specific organizations such as a library, hospital or non-profit or earmark their gift for general causes like education or healthcare.”

Legacy Regional Community Foundation awards grants and scholarships to charitable causes through distributions from investment earnings.  Legacy works in the community to aid nonprofit organizations, monitor economic conditions, identify social needs, and produce sustainable solutions to community challenges. In 2022, Legacy awarded over $687,000 to benefit our region.
