Tiger Deli Manager

Job Summary:

The Tiger Deli Manager manages all areas of operation for Cowley College’s Tiger Deli.

Position Duties:

=      Manage daily activities of the Tiger Deli to improve sales performance.

=      Responsible for managing the Deli operational processes to assure compliance with all College, local, state and federal standards.

=      Manage product storage, maintenance and rotation activities to avoid any damages or spoilages.

=      Prepare and/or supervise food preparation, maintaining all safety standards.

=      Operate all food preparation machines and equipment.

=      Receive, unload and stock food items.

=      Research, understand and implement all health guidelines as required by local, state and federal food regulations.

=      Conduct regular inspections for appearance, operation and safety of the equipment and report any issues or concerns.

=      Ensure the facility is maintained neat, clean and safe.

=      Ensure that products are properly labeled and priced.

=      Monitor and maintain stock inventory levels to avoid over and under stock problems.

=      Respond to and resolve all queries and complaints from both customers and work study employees.

=      Interact politely with customers while solving problems related to sales, dissatisfied service and issues related to deli operations.

=      Maintain equipment.  Coordinating with maintenance any in-house upkeep.

=      Interview, hire, train, supervise and mentor all work study employees.

=      Schedule and assign work study to have full daily coverage.

=      Supervise study work study employees in all duties, including; food preparation, cooking, serving, packaging and operating counter.

=      Ensure work study employees understand and follow all College and Tiger Deli rules and policies.

=      Manage work study budget to stay within department budget.

=      Promote the Tiger Deli to students and staff.

=      Maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with employees, vendors and/or any other representatives of external organization.

=      Comply with all College policies and procedures

=      Assist the Director of Auxiliary Services by performing other related duties as assigned.


Required Education Background:

=      High school diploma or equivalent.

Required Experience

   Two years of experience in food service.

=      Experience in food service management, preferred.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

=      Understanding of restaurant/food service operations and management.

=      Accurate recordkeeping skills.

=      Understanding of computer and basic software programs.

=      Ability to supervise and positively motivate student work study employees.

=      Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.

=      Ability to manage all aspects of a small business operation.

=      Ability to work independently, as well as on a team.

=      Ability to work and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.

=      Great communications skills, both written and oral.

=      Ability to organize and prioritize work. Work well under deadline pressures.

=      Excellent human relations skills. Ability to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and diverse populations.

=      Understanding of and commitment to AQIP.


Supervisory Requirements: Student Work Study employees.
