Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge.
The theme of the celebration is “Give Hope, Receive Hope.”
“The celebration will focus on the connection between Elijah Pilgrim Geiger, the first African American graduate of Southwestern, and the beliefs of Dr. King and how their lives shape us to think about our calling and purpose, just as their calling and purpose was to create change and break down barriers in our society,” says Anjaih Clemons, director of student life at Southwestern College.
The featured speaker will be Dawn Pleas, vice president for retention and student success at Southwestern College. The celebration will also feature a performance from Southwestern College graduate Chanel McCray, a personal statement of faith and hope from SC transfer student Kenyana Heard, and several SC staff who will participate in other capacities.
