Southwestern College Singers "Love through the Seasons"

Southwestern College’s A Cappella Choir and SC Singers will present their fall concert, “Love through the Seasons,” on Friday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m., in Messenger Recital Hall in the Darbeth Fine Arts Building.  There is no admission charge and the public is invited to attend.
“Featuring pieces in English and German, as well as Japanese, the program will take us on an amorous journey through the seasons with a repertoire that includes Baroque part songs, choral classics, and well-known contemporary show tunes,” says Amanda Li, director of choral activities and voice at Southwestern College.

Annual cemetery walk with costumed re-enactors telling the stories of interesting Winfield residents. Times of tours are 3:00, 3:30, 4:00, or 4:30 PM. Tickets are $10 each. Spooks & Goblins Parade

Coordinated by: Citizens Bank of Kansas
& the Winfield Lions Club
Starting location: Cochran Park
Located just west of Wendy’s at 16th & Manning.
In case of inclement weather, the parade will be moved to barn 4 at the Fairgrounds.
Costume judging begins promptly at 5:30 P.M.
Judging ends at 5:55 P.M. & parade starts at 6:00 P.M.
Participants parade from Cochran Park to
Citizens Bank of Kansas parking lot at 15th & Main.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st
, 2nd, and 3rd place in each
age category. Costume judging age groups:

Hallo-Wine-O Trail Run

From the partners that brought you seven years of the beloved Wine-O Trail Run, Wheat State Wine Co. (WSWCO) and William Newton Healthcare Foundation (WNHF), have teamed up once again to host a spooky new event.

The whole family can RUN, JOG or WALK on a fun and moderately difficult trail in a scenic surrounding in costume! The 5k run/walk will start at 5:30pm. The 2-mile run/walk will start at 5:45pm. These races are not timed.

PRICE
$30 - Age 21 & over
$5 - Age 20 & under

No refunds issued; sign-up will be seen as a donation.

RACE PERKS
Registration includes a 2019 Wine-O Trail Run T-Shirt for the first 100 registered participants (limited sizes available).

Participants 21 & over will also receive:
- First glass of wine free
- 10% discount on all purchases

WSWCO only serves customers from the age of 21 and up. There will be a non-alcoholic beverage available as a replacement.

Wear your Halloween costume for a chance to win prizes. Awards will be given in the following categories: Ages 0-12, Ages 13-20, Ages 21 and up

SC Trunk-or-Treat

Southwestern College Education Builders are providing a safe place for area youth to gather as they host the fourth annual Trunk-or-Treat at the base of the college’s 77 Steps on Sunday, Oct. 27, from 6-7 p.m.  There is no admission charge and the community is invited to attend.
The Trunk-or-Treat will consist of decorated vehicles parked near the bottom of the 77 Steps and children and their families will be able to walk through and vote on their favorite one.
Ed Builders is an SC education organization that strives to do as many projects as possible to benefit children of all ages.  
The Trunk-or-Treat event is sponsored by Ed Builders with funding provided by the Southwestern College Student Government Association.

Dining with Diabetes Class

Nutrition and physical acitivity are keys to managing your type 2 diabetes, but where do you start? The Dining with Diabetes program can help!

Designed especially for people with type 2 diabetes, this program will help you learn the skills needed to promote good health.

Dining with Diabetes is taught by trained and caring educators.

The program includes:

  • planning meals and snacks with delicious and healthy recipes
  • cooking demonstrations and food sampling
  • motivation and support - connect with others who are living with diabetes
  • ideas for being more active
  • an understanding of how diabetes affects your overall health

Downtown Trick-or-Treat
Winfield businesses will be handing out candy and goodies on Thursday, October 31 from 4-6:00 PM. Bring the kids down to show off their costumes and get a treat! The businesses that will be handing out goodies will have a pumpkin sign clearly shown on their storefront. We have informed the businesses of the Teal Pumpkin Movement. If your child has a food allergy, look for businesses that have a teal-colored pumpkin out front or a sign in their window! Please only bring children 12 years of age or younger. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
